I CAN'T BELIEVE A IMPULSE DECISION I MADE SIX YEARS AGO IS STILL HAUNTING HIS CHARACTERIZATION TO THIS DAY... god and this was literally the first time anyone's ever told him "uh that was a bad idea and they were bad people probably" and sora was like "oh shit you're right huh"... he forgot that people other than skyler can be awful LMAO
i am totally down for having that shit removed so he can like, have an independent thought for once, but they'd need to figure out it's there first :0a my first ideas were either getting one of the sciencey types on board like rosalind or rhys, or getting one of the resident psychics to be like... yo... there's something weird in your mind my dude... but i'll keep digging around for options
i hope sora's lack of brain to mouth filter is okay!! he just wants the solder and the sergeant to be happy!! he would DIE for their happiness!!!!!

Though if this continues and Sora just believes whatever he's told, people could also notice. Like if it's a major trend.
Lack of filter is fine XD Honestly. He's a good kid. (They should exchange recipes. Bucky loves to cook.)

I don't actually think there was any magic tech going on with it? I know there was a lot of bizarre supernatural shit going on in STE but it was definitely more weird supernatural shit than like magic magic. I'd guess there's probably some pink statue shit in the spike, but I'm still not sure if the spike is more magic or more just straight up messing with some electrical signals up there uou Honestly, I'll probably just go with the answer that makes for the best story LOL
The bad part is about Sora is that he's incredibly gullible in the first place and does tend to just believe what he's told! The things he usually can't be bothered about are things that are just obviously untrue or things that may be true but he knows that he's being taken for a ride! Things like his identity, or like the nature of the heart, or the innate goodness or badness in people, and so on. (BTW the self-esteem issue is both the spike AND him being real hard on himself because his self-esteem really is that shoddy LOL).
WITH the spike though, he'll believe things that are just blatantly not true, or flies in the face of things he's said before? For example, he's been in a relationship with Skyler in which Skyler believes he's Sora, a separate entity from himself, and the spike helps perpetuate that. However, when Sora got to Beacon, Riku treated him like someone totally different from Sora, so without much critical thought to it, Sora switched tracks, when in any other universe he'd continue think of himself as Sora without Riku's input on it. uou It's the kind of thing that'd be hard to spot because he's honestly incredibly clueless and unless people are watching him actively getting manipulated, it'd be pretty hard to catch. (Not that I'm shooting this down! I'm just looking at the problem like HMM... how do we manipulate events to where it WOULD become a noticeable trend... Things to think about!)
Sora's a huge baby but he loves people and does his best :') (HE JUST GOT LIKE 800 COOKBOOKS FROM THE LIBRARIAN and he wants to try everything in them!! Soldier... it's time for a food adventure)

I do think that the more time people spend with him, the more obvious it ought to be-- like if he completely changes his mind on something he previously said or believed. Though somebody would have to make him do that, I suppose /chinscratches

what i've decided is that it's easier to get the lie across if he has similar ideas floating around in his head, or if someone keeps telling him it, or if there's no compelling evidence in the contrary? i mean, if someone tells him the sky is red he can just look up and say it's black, actually, because it's beacon. it's a fine line between someone telling him their world view and people telling him something that he should believe is true, whether it is or not.
so it's the difference between bucky telling him that no one is actually that perfect (it's just him clarifying his world view) and riku telling sora that sora was being selfish for wanting to know if he's okay (which was something he's pretty sure riku meant for him to believe - and now he believes it, because riku genuinely seemed to believe it, and that idea is connected to a whole ton of interesting doubts he's had floating around in his head for a while.)
there are a lot of factors here but when it comes down to it if you tell him the grass is purple enough times and no one points out that the grass is green he'll probably start thinking the grass is purple after about like a week of repetition, no matter what his perception of it was before, and he will also start calling other green things purple, and he will be ENORMOUSLY confused about the actual color green's existence. honestly, it could be as easy as that? someone trying to prank him and him being like... wait a minute......... uhhhhhhhh........ you're right actually? and them being like what LOL
oh buck at least you were not in locke city where a lot of people really, genuinely, truly believed that skyler (and by extension sora) was an absolutely garbage human being 8^)
EDIT: OH MY GOD GAIL i just realized that aziraphale's been telling sora that he's anything but an angel? so if aziraphale told sora he's an angel, but then backtracked, but then backtracked on that, and then backtracked on that... sora would get a bit confused but he'd only believe the last thing aziraphale said. one hundred percent, with no critical thought whatsoever. this can be DONE
