[He's just gonna keep this hug going, though his grip loosens a little. But it's comforting to have the contact. A little like when Law was a kid - for, sure, he's grown a lot now but he's still small in comparison.]

The town's called Beacon, and for me it's been a year. This world is dead, or dying, which is why we can be here, I guess. Someone who lived here over a hundred years ago who was studying the worlds out in the stars accidentally attracted the attention of creatures that lived out there and when they came, they began to kill off this world. If we don't figure out how to get rid of them, this world dies and so do we. And so do more.

[He nods toward the star charts he's drawn up.]

Every one of those circled in red is a star I saw at some point that's gone dark since. It's nearly a hundred, now.
