honestly tho: samesies. peter's not optimistic in the sense that he thinks everything's going to work out, he's optimistic in the sense that he has to hope things are going to work out for the best one way or the other, because the alternative fucking sucks. (which actually isn't specific to beacon, just ... generally speaking. outside of the banter and the terrible jokes, he's actually pretty prone to being ridiculously morose unless he's got people to pull him out of it.)

WHICH ACTUALLY thinking about it, obviously they'd have seen each other around beacon — they'd probably have also seen each other at the ice cream cart. (aside: peter teaches eleven at the library and then takes her to get ice cream after, so he's there an embarrassingly frequent amount tbh.) so — idk if you want to backdate something to before shit hits the fan and play around with that, or we can wait until after the event?

I would probably be down with backdating something? I can't promise Misty's always as open as she would like to be, but if the other person starts off strong it's much easier to expend the effort to keep along the same...conversational pace (or, after all of this, 'how about that there murder' is probably a hilarious ice cream ice breaker)

hilariously (question mark), peter's conversational and friendly, but he's not very open about ... a lot of things, what with the whole spider-man thing. he tends to be pretty evasive (not always deliberately tbf) unless there's a Very Real Reason not to be, and he tends to talk a lot of shit if a conversation veers towards the personal and/or uncomfortable.
'how about that there murder' is definitely up there for ice cream ice breakers (THAT'S AWFUL AND I HOPE YOU FEEL ASHAMED BY THE WAY), along with 'soooo how was that deeply psychologically traumatising event for you?'

She can pretty much respect that, honestly - I think she'd be perplexed if it came from a place of practicality (secret identities would be silly to maintain in such a tiny town, c'mon), but on a 'Just Ain't Feeling It' level that rings as legitimate, no hate Peter
Backdated would probably be good for normal-to-mild chatter in the 'the fuck was that' vein/baby rapport-establishing, so that's probably a good option? (AND IF THIS WEIRD GAP IN REPLY HAS FRUSTRATED YOU I COULD THROW SOMETHING TOGETHER INSTEAD, BAH)
