I'd also love for Riku to bring Quentin along on an explore once the dust settles on Enter the Sandman. Riku has absolutely been that weird kid who was obsessed with stuff that made no sense to anyone else, which... well, that's also why he's so tolerant of Q's quirks (he had friends who accepted his own).

Arg! So, it's pity? It's pity, isn't it? He pities Quentin like woah-- that's fine, Quentin will take anything he can get his hands on! It can be for pity, he doesn't even mind.
Dumb room mate stuff, you say? Oh... this is going to be awesome!

Riku had friends willing to accept him in his entirety, good and bad and everything in between, even when he did stuff that honestly he wouldn't have blamed anyone for never forgiving.
Quentin's not the only one who could have taken a way out himself but chose to hang on, it's just the things that they hung on to are a little bit different. I think after their hallucination heart to heart Riku realized there's a lot of blood, sweat and tears that went into Q's survival story, so... it's really not pity. It's relating.
I guess it's more like understanding things like, well, loneliness and isolation, being different, how these things can mess with your head and heart, he gets it! And he was pretty much over it when he got here, but then he lost everyone super important to him and is trying to find his feet again, too.

Quentin will cherish the friendship they’re bound to build while living together, because Riku seems like someone who does his fair share of things around the house- unlike Quentin who just does things when he remembers? And Eliot keeps a neat house, because that’s just how he is.
But yes. Quentin is grateful to Riku for saving him, not just from the psychical injury at the docks, but also for providing the human connection he was so dearly missing out in the woods when everything turned horrible. Riku was human, then, and it matters more than Quentin is ever going to know how to put in to words. If they talk about it, prepare for a lot of hand gestures and flailing. Because it was all of it. The hand to hold and cling to, and it was the hugging in the forest floor when everything seemed hopeless and dead. It was Riku sharing stories about himself and understanding, even deeper than Quentin, just how cruel a place this is. It’s also the fact that Riku found a way to keep going - that brought Quentin hope.

Don't hold back on Riku's feelings, though. I can talk feelings and character motivations for days. Just- you'll need to stop me if I get started. I have whole theories about Quentin and his feelings and his coping mechanisms and his ways to view the world. Tons!
