۵ ABOUT: I'm Ireth, a nurse, married for 17 years and I have 3 young kids. I like horror! All of it; movies, books, games, boardgames, you name it and I probably love it. I've been playing horror games since Eleventh Hour came out and reading about it since someone mentioned Stephen King's IT to me when I was twelve. I also enjoy cooking and crocheting.

Quentin is - a high-strung supernerd who loves fantasy books and is kind of awkward. Everyone already in-game knows his network freak-outs, but to all the new people - Quentin is the archetype of a hero, but with a twist in canon, that means most of what he tries to do, backfires and just makes everything way worse. He wants to safe the world and save everyone, just as soon as he's saved Eliot Waugh (Go on, ask him who Eliot is!).
Self-described, Quentin thinks he's boring, not good enough, too slow and too emotional to be useful for anything. He's mediocre through and through and is mostly a waste of time. He talks too much and he knows too little, he's annoying and pretentious and gets on people's nerves a lot.
Objectively, Quentin is caring and generous, good at magic and good at learning new things. He can adapt. He has a big heart and he wants so badly to prove that he's a good person, even though he already is one. He's courageous and fierce in the face of danger and he will stop at nothing to save the people he care about. Sometimes, he'll even go above and beyond to save people he doesn't care about. He's optimistic and tries very hard to see the bright side. When he fails at this, he beats himself up about it.
Quentin has, per canon, clinical depression and has had / has suicidal ideation at time, and this might shine through in some of his posts. I have a permission post to opt out of this!

۵ DESIRED CR: All the cr! Yes! Positive, negative, neutral - come at me! Quentin is baseline pretty friendly, unless he's scared - in that case, he does say "fuck you" a whole lot. (Just all of this)
He needs friends, someone who will put up with him being weird and strangely invested in ideas that make little sense.
۵ UNDESIRED CR: I want to say romance, because Quentin really isn't looking for that, not when there's a world to save and a quest to figure out. BUT! That should not stop your character from trying, though! Come at him, because it's fine.
۵ PLANS: Quentin took a hard hit last month, with the ferry sinking with Eliot on board (seriously, ask him about Eliot) and all of that mess, and soon after, he lost his mind a little bit due to the Event. He geared up, teamed up with Peter to search the woods for a way out, but was talked down from this pretty-sure suicide before he could try to fling his fragile body at the spirits.
Now? He's pretty much doing nothing. He's still reading books at the library, he's lounging around the cabin and he's helping Midge Maisel cook dinner / food for whoever wants it.
I'd like for him to go explore Beacon more, really set out and just run about in the woods. He's very determined that there's a way out, a portal, and he wants to find it somehow.

Also, and this is probably needs a massive Suicide Trigger Warning, but would you be interested in him being murdered by Villanelle and later staged to make it look like a suicide, possibly to the extent of making Quentin question whether or not he actually did it? Basically, would you like maximum trauma? Because Villanelle would be all over that.

OH MY GOD! Yes! Yes, I am very much interested in this! I fucking love Villanelle and Killing Eve is so amazing because of her. Also because of the whole very-creepy-but-also-a-little-sweet kinda crush Villanelle had on Eve. And I've been meaning to tell you, that you're crushing it as Villanelle! When she got in to a fight with Crowley? So awesome!
Okay, so - squeeing about your character aside. Yes, I'd be up for Quentin getting messily killed and it's staged as a suicide, and it's not like Quentin hasn't tried to kill himself before (he has, several times) and him being here was also the consequence of a maybe-kinda suicide. Does he have to piss her off, or is she just bored and killing someone seemed like a good idea? Also, Quentin lives with the love of his life (through two timelines at least- it's a long story) Eliot Waugh, just in case she wanted to attack Quentin at home? She has to take out Eliot first, because most of the time, he's there too. BUT Quentin is at the library a lot, and if she asks, he'd meet her anywhere in town - he's... naive? Thinking happy thoughts?

So what are the tuts? Does that mean she can learn gestures but nothing will come of it? Cos she can certainly do that and get frustrated.
So I'm thinking something along the lines of them getting to know each other a little - enough that she learns about the magic thing, maybe sees him as a useful person to cultivate. Right now she's pretending to be 'Eve Polastri harmless student', so positive CR should be easy to build?
I want to try and hold off on any killing until Jan, because I'd like her to go on a spree and make it a big thing. Which hopefully gives them enough time for her to get close enough to him and hopefully have him open up about his suicidal ideation/death. Because staging it as a suicide and tricking him is a deliberate act and I'd love to have the positive CR there in order for it to hurt more (evil laugh etc).
Logistics - she already hit up Eliot's clothing post. So maybe she can come over for a fitting and they can meet then? I can poke Pytho about it. Also I will just hit you up on Discord for since we seem to all be there now lol

Like those? There's a million different ones, from basic "just one set of tuts" to "you have to make these 34 different finger movements and you have to do them precisely or the world will blow up". It depends on what you want to do, and how difficult it is. She can learn these, and she can never do magic. *sad face*
Sure, December is going to be slow for me anyway, so January is fine. Quentin is really friendly, so if she talks to him and stays when he starts rambling on about something, he's going to like her. He shows magic to everyone, it's like - preservation doesn't exist for him. Riku took his lantern a little as a warning once? But-- so if she's nice and friendly, he's going to meet up with her and show her things. Several times, even. He's just nice like that. So that's a huge yes on the let's be friends and Villanelle can stab him in the back while he looks on with disbelief and betrayal.

If Kol can sort of make fun of him, sign him up for possible friendship! Quentin is quirky in a good way, and has some good ideas — and he's magical, which Kol likes. They can exchange magical lore and Kol can tell him all about vampires without saying but heavily implying "Source: Me."

I'd also love for Riku to bring Quentin along on an explore once the dust settles on Enter the Sandman. Riku has absolutely been that weird kid who was obsessed with stuff that made no sense to anyone else, which... well, that's also why he's so tolerant of Q's quirks (he had friends who accepted his own).

Riku had friends willing to accept him in his entirety, good and bad and everything in between, even when he did stuff that honestly he wouldn't have blamed anyone for never forgiving.
Quentin's not the only one who could have taken a way out himself but chose to hang on, it's just the things that they hung on to are a little bit different. I think after their hallucination heart to heart Riku realized there's a lot of blood, sweat and tears that went into Q's survival story, so... it's really not pity. It's relating.
I guess it's more like understanding things like, well, loneliness and isolation, being different, how these things can mess with your head and heart, he gets it! And he was pretty much over it when he got here, but then he lost everyone super important to him and is trying to find his feet again, too.

Quentin will cherish the friendship they’re bound to build while living together, because Riku seems like someone who does his fair share of things around the house- unlike Quentin who just does things when he remembers? And Eliot keeps a neat house, because that’s just how he is.
But yes. Quentin is grateful to Riku for saving him, not just from the psychical injury at the docks, but also for providing the human connection he was so dearly missing out in the woods when everything turned horrible. Riku was human, then, and it matters more than Quentin is ever going to know how to put in to words. If they talk about it, prepare for a lot of hand gestures and flailing. Because it was all of it. The hand to hold and cling to, and it was the hugging in the forest floor when everything seemed hopeless and dead. It was Riku sharing stories about himself and understanding, even deeper than Quentin, just how cruel a place this is. It’s also the fact that Riku found a way to keep going - that brought Quentin hope.

wait okay let me add to this LMAO WHEN I SAY IDK HOW IT'S GOING TO DEVELOP i mostly mean that they're both nerds (albeit very different types of nerds) and in spite of peter's propensity for bad jokes in the face of things he Doesn't Want To Deal With (and blah blah as a means of distraction for other people and for centring himself) and in spite of the fact that he's ... optimistic because he has to be, at his core peter kind of ... oscillates between hopefulness and an intense negativity coupled with a side of arrogance that he tries to quash, i think there's a similarity there that m a y — lead to frustrations? (BASED ON YOUR DESCRIPTION HERE... although i'm tempted to say peter's more sure of himself.)
that said peter is still peter, and he does kind of like quentin despite the weird superhero registration thing he tried to do and he likes being there for people so. GESTURES. he likes quentin's proactiveness for sure.

Who's-- not sure about Peter, yet. He thinks Peter is nice, and friendly and he's willing to go to Peter for help (Peter is going to have to kind of Spider-web his own door shut later on probably, because Quentin is going to think of Peter first if he needs help with something technical or exploration related) and he trusts him enough to ask for that help (which- I'm going to reply to their 'Let's Suit Up' thread SOON, I SWEAR). Quentin asking for help is really kind of a BIG THING because he doesn't really do that much.
Gees, Peter, let up on the mutant registration! It was a good idea on paper and Quentin is a very theoretical kind of man! And he thinks the best of people - which is going to get him killed by Villanelle- yay?

Well, okay! So maybe someone should tell Quentin that? Because he was just being friendly, alright? Just because registering Hedge witches (magicians but without formal training? They have to learn all of magic on their own, some are SO badass!) lent to them being targeted and killed? That was a fluke, okay? A one off!
