[ scully's got less experience with small towns. most of her youth had been spent on a naval base in san diego and her career path had lead her to various cities before it landed in DC. the only real experience with them firsthand has come from her time with the x-files and after (which still lead them to unusual cases, more often than not), and during those times she's typically seeing them at their worst, which hardly seems fair.
most everyone has left her alone since she'd arrived at the tavern, which is appreciated. dana both wants to be alone and feels incredibly lonely, and being surrounded by people who are present but not in her face and asking what's wrong is oddly comforting. (possibly due to her living her life in numerous cities.) the woman respecting her need to be silent and and unbothered, up until she asks for a glass, is doubly appreciated, and she smiles lightly at her, pulling her hand from her mouth to cross her arms on the bar. ]
What is that they say? Never drink alone? [ not that that means the woman needs to drink with her if she doesn't want to. ]
nor is she :(
